What is the Green Valley Learning Fund?
The Green Valley Learning Fund is a non-profit organization that works to raise funds that bridge the gap between public funding and the true cost of the full educational experience, high quality services and programs beyond what the school district can provide. These funds are raised through the generous donations from Green Valley Families in addition to the various fundraising efforts throughout the year including our Fall Fun Run, the Annual Auction and Employer Matching programs.
Until this year (2020/21), funds raised supported Instructional Assistants in every classroom, extra library hours, a computer Instructional Assistant/teacher, TK/Kindergarten music, increased time for the science teacher to provide additional lab opportunities for students/teacher professional development, lunchtime sports activities, and funds to support teacher professional development.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and its impact on the availability of funds at a state, district and school level, as of June 2020, all Learning Funds in the San Ramon Valley School District are now required to pay for their 2020/2021 budgets up front (August & October). This new process impacts what GV’s Learning Fund is able to provide for our students during the 2020/2021 year, as well as creating a new model from which they must conduct their fundraising for the future.
The good news is that there will be an opportunity to fundraise and/or donate during the year to “bring back” some of the programs that were eliminated, but we need your help!
Current Donation Ask:
Given the new SRVUSD policy requiring pre-payment for staff positions supported by Learning Funds, our fall donation ask for 2020/2021, will go towards the 2021/22 budget plan. The projected fundraising budget for the 2021-2022 school year is $270,000, with the suggested donation of $600 per student.
In years past, we have been able to supplement our fundraising efforts to meet our budget goals for the year, with alternative fundraising programs (i.e. GV Apex Fun Run, Dining/Shopping Events, A’s game, Auction). Unfortunately, we don’t know what this year will look like in terms of the ability to fundraise. However, if every family donated, we would not have to supplement with additional fundraising efforts.
Our GV community is amazing, and because of you, we were able to meet our fundraising goal of $318,425 for the 2019/2020 school year. With your help, if we are able to raise sufficient funds at registration through our annual student donation, we have the opportunity to bring back the many programs and opportunities that our GV community values.
We understand that many families are not in a position to donate or donate in-full. We will provide an option to spread out donations over the course of 4 months (simply check the "donate in 4 easy monthly installments" box), or simply pay as much as you can. And, if you’d like to give more and pay it forward, there is an option for that as well! Your generous donations are tax deductible!
We understand that this time is uncertain, but as always we are so thankful for a supportive and generous community that wants only the best for all of our children.
